Campaign electSloan Weekly Update

April 16 2019

Last Week around H-L&A

Our team of dedicated volunteers - one from as far away as Etobicoke -  braved the cold and rain to knock on doors last weekend in Amherstview. Thanks to everyone who chatted with us!

On Monday, a cold, wet afternoon of door-knocking in Cannifton was capped off by a visit to a great business in our riding - Corbyville's Signal Brewery.  Knocking on doors is such an important way to connect—it was good to hear the concerns of residents of north Belleville!

I took in a Belleville Senators game last weekend—great hockey and great fans! The campaign jacket is definitely a conversation-starter, and I enjoyed chatting with folks in the stands from our riding.

In another visit to Belleville (the area north of the 401 is in our riding), I was pleased to attend Mayor Mitch Panciuk’s first annual prayer breakfast for religious and community leaders.  I was grateful for the chance to chat with everyone there, and to catch up with Tim Durkin, the Conservative candidate in Bay of Quinte, our neighbouring riding.

If you tune in to Napanee’s 88.7 MyFM you’ll hear our latest radio ad, promoting Michelle Rempel’s May 3 visit to our riding (more info on that below!).

Canvassing this week

We won’t be canvassing this Easter weekend, but will restart on April 27th/28th.  Stay tuned!

Upcoming events!

Plans are moving forward for our event with MP Michelle Rempel!  Join us on Friday, May 3 from 6pm - 9pm at the Royal Canadian Legion in Napanee, 26 Mill St East.

Ms. Rempel is the Conservative MP for Calgary Nose Hill and the Shadow Minister for Citizenship and Immigration. She has been a very dynamic and effective presence in Question Period: one of the issues on which she has been most active is border security, and the need to preserve a Canadian system of immigration that is orderly, fair and compassionate. During her visit, Ms Rempel plans to meet with several community groups that work with refugees.

Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door and can be purchased at www.electsloan.ca/events.  (This event is being run on a cost-recovery basis.) Please bring a friend!

We’re pleased to announce that Conservative MP Ed Fast will be visiting our riding on June 13! Mr. Fast is the MP for Abbotsford BC and the Shadow Minister for Environment and Climate Change. We are looking forward to hearing about the Party’s positive and effective plans for conservation and protecting our environment! Stay tuned for more details.

Join the Victory Club!

To reach our goal of being election-ready, we are launching Victory Club, a program that will go a long way towards reaching our fundraising target and will give us the necessary tools to run a successful campaign. Our target can be reached if only 250 people donate $400.  A $400 donation costs you only $100 out-of-pocket after the generous tax credit! And remember, every eligible member of your household can donate separately and join our Victory Club. We recently had a husband and wife donate $400 each--$800 for the campaign and only $200 out-of-pocket for them! See below for donation info.

Donations

As always, we are grateful for your support for this Campaign and we will keep working together to spread our positive Conservative vision for Canada and for Hastings—Lennox & Addington. Donations of any amount are always welcome: When you give to our local Conservative association (up to the 2019 max. of $1600), that money stays right here in HLA, and up to 75% of your donation could be eligible for a tax credit on your 2019 tax return.  We can accept donations from Canadian individuals only (not from corporations or businesses). Cheques should be made payable to H-L&A Conservative Association and sent to PO Box 111, Madoc, Ontario, K0K 2K0. We cannot accept cash or credit card information through the mail; however, you can donate online at: www.electsloan.ca/donate.

With thanks,

Derek Sloan
